Career Coaching
The academy is a challenging place
With over 20 years experience working in academia and research environments, Dr. Atom has provided mentorship and career guidance for scientists at all career stages. They’ve seen the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, and provide candid real-world advice about the nittiest and grittiest aspects of the Academy.
For the past 6 years they’ve led programs providing workshops, coaching, and training for faculty and trainees on topics that include career development, creating more inclusive training environments, research ethics, communication, and conflict resolution.
They are a certified Center for the Improvement of Mentored Experiences in Research (CIMER) trainer, and served as a leader for the UW Faculty Allies Council supporting conflict resolution between faculty mentors and trainees. Additionally they led multiple NIH and NSF sponsored diversity-focused research training programs.
